I'm older and wiser...

I’ve dieted my entire life. You name it, I’ve tried it! For the last few years I’ve floated in and out of the low carb lifestyle. It worked at first, I lost a lot of weight and then it no longer worked and I gained it back. And, it is so limiting that I just refuse to do it anymore. Life is too short to deprive yourself of the foods you love.

So I threw out all the diets, they don't work long term anyway and instead I'm focusing on old fashioned calorie counting and eating good for you food. I’ve always been a healthy eater, but I was so engrossed in low carb and eating clean that I wasn’t being realistic. It’s okay to eat processed foods sometimes, it’s okay to eat junk occasionally, but I do try and stay away from sugar, instead I get my sweet fix from fruits.

That 80/20 theory is a good mindset and since I love to cook and want food that tastes good and is good for you, and at my age, it's time to focus on not losing weight but just eating good food and enjoying what I do eat. I have several food blogs, but I didn’t want to incorporate the old with the new, except for some recipes that are really special. This is my later in life blog about my quest for eating wholesome, delicious food that feeds not only the body, but also nourishes the soul.

I hope you all enjoy, my food blogs have all been a labor of love. ~ Jan
